“Beer is made by men, wine by God.” -Martin Luther German born Martin Luther was a professor and priest, but was probably best known for his letter written to Bishop Albrecht von Brandenburg protesting the sale of indulgences. This letter became known as the 95 Theses and sparked the beginning of the Protestant Reformation. What does this have to do with wine? Luther was a prominent 16^th century writer who was well versed in beer as well, being from beer-drinking Germany so a compliment such as this one about wine is something to take seriously!
