Top 4 Reasons Why You Must Visit Italy
There are hundreds of reasons why you should visit this one of a kind Mediterranean country but here are our top 4 reasons why you must visit Italy, and revisit for that matter!

1. Rome
This capital city was once home to an empire which ruled over 5 million square miles worth of world territory which included most of Europe, northern Africa, the Balkans and areas of Mesopotamia and the Middle East. See where all this power was centralized and its effect on this city by the Tiber. Rome holds some of the most precious Renaissance and Baroque works of art in the entire world, is often called an open-air museum and is well worth a visit for any art, history or beauty lover. It is a one of a kind city.

2. Wine
Not only has Italy been producing wine for over 4000 years, beginning with the Etruscans, but it has gained its reputation as one of the largest wine-producing countries in the world. The country is home to over 2000 grape varieties including the Sangiovese grape which creates some of the most respected wines in the world (Brunello di Montalcino, Chianti). Yes, Italy’s neighboring countries such as Spain and France know how to make a fine glass of wine themselves, but when you think of Italian wine, you know you’re talking about a product that is in a league of its own.

3. Food
How can we mention wine and not mention food. When you think of Italy, you most likely think ‘pasta’ but this probably means you haven’t truly experienced the country on a culinary level. Italy has 20 regions with 20 completely different climates and geographical make ups, which makes each one completely unique in terms of agricultural. So unique in fact, that you will not find the same dishes on any menus throughout the various regions. Each region has its own typical dish (yes the more southern you go, the more pasta you will experience) and within each region, you will find variations from town to town and even home to home. Think of it this way, a Sicilian may very well have no idea what to order when sitting at a restaurant in Veneto. And if you want your mind blown even more – they may not even understand each other’s dialects!

4. Geography
The beauty of Italy lies in its variety. This peninsula is surrounded by water making it a coastal haven but drive cross country and you will find this country has much more than beaches to offer – though those alone are worth visiting. Italy has it all – sea, mountains, rolling hills, islands and grassland which pretty much sums up why their food and wine is as unique and filled with variety as it is.

Italy is not only a place for those who want to get their tan on, but is perfect for mountain climbers, hikers, cyclists, nature lovers. It is a small country which packs a pretty big punch. Now get your hiking boots ready, glass in hand and appetite for food and history – and get yourself over to Italy this year!
